Chaerin Im Trio

Chaerin Im, a pianist based between Amsterdam and Seoul, is considered one of the striking new voices in European and Asian jazz. For this concert, she is writing new compositions and building a hybrid setup with acoustic grand piano and synthesizers. This is the first time these pieces will be heard, exclusively during the Grachtenfestival, at Gashouder.

Chaerin Im has previously collaborated with Ben van Gelder, Reinier Baas, and Pablo Held. Last year, she performed on the PaRaDoX stage with Danish bassist Jasper Høiby. In her music, she combines modern jazz, Korean indie music, cinematic instrumentals, and ambient electronica into a dreamy, atmospheric sound in which improvisation and melody continually reinforce one another. Dissolving that boundary now forms the core of her style.

In 2022, Im released the album The Back Of Beyond, as co-leader with producer Song Younam. She received the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award and was named Young Artist Of The Year by NRC. Late last year, her debut album Midnight Resets was released.
