Buiten Westen

Sticks, Rico, Typhoon, Jawat!, DuvelDuvel and Kubus

What began in 2004 as an album and tour grew into a collective that defined the sound of the 2000s. After years of solo projects, Sticks, Rico, Typhoon, Jawat!, DuvelDuvel and Kubus reunite on one stage.

Six names, six different paths. Sticks and Rico laid the foundation, wordsmith Typhoon grew into one of the leading voices in Dutch hip hop, the razor-sharp Jawat! and Rotterdam's own DuvelDuvel gave the collective its edge and character, and producer Kubus shaped the sound behind the scenes. Together and apart, they built a discography that has since reached classic status.

Before their breakthrough, the Dutch hip-hop scene revolved mainly around the Randstad. Buiten Westen shifted that center of gravity to Zwolle, the 'Far East', and proved that Dutch-language rap could fill large venues without compromise. Their live shows raised the bar for the genre: raw and fierce, with an energy closer to a punk concert than an average hip-hop show.

"When I got the proverbial keys to Down The Rabbit Hole as a special guest this year, my first move was to open a door to the past. It was magical to share a stage with all the boys again and to see that the audience still brings the same energy as before. However, this was only the start. Gashouder is going to get even crazier and we can't wait to see you all there."
